Obstacle Course Video, Amazing Kid Doing Handstands

Here’s an amazing obstacle course video showing a very strong and skilled kid doing handstands through the entire course.

As a kid, I used to love outdoor obstacle courses. What kid didn’t, right? I remember my brother and all my friends used to make up our own obstacle courses outdoors in our huge backyard using just about anything and everything we could find: Ropes, ladders, tires, tubes, blocks, sheets, poles, swing sets, water buckets, holes in the ground, boulders, bikes, hula hoops, balls, wagons, and on and on. We would take pictures of our creations and even shoot video of our more intricate obstacle courses. It was a great way to spend many a summer day.

Sometimes we would make an easy obstacle course for our dog. In effect, we ended up making simple dog agility equipment, though back then I didn’t know about dog agility or that it was an actual popular, serious, and competitive sport.

And if we weren’t making dog obstacle courses or outdoor courses on our lawn, then we were creating obstacle courses for our bikes too. We would create alley ways and jumps and ramps in our driveway (and the neighbors’ driveways) to ride our bikes through and over. We’d set up a series of orange cones to weave through or drive around, and even set up stations to pick up various objects along the way, with other stations to drop off those objects as we wound our way through. We would time ourselves and keep track of each run on a chart to analyze later. Oh yeah, we were into it!

We had indoor obstacle courses too in school. It was the most compelling method that existed to get us to take part in gym class! After all, doing jumping jacks, push-ups, or even running around the room can get boring after a while. But with an obstacle course, there are always new, interesting challenges to undertake - it never gets boring.

But even in gym class, I never did anything like the young boy shown in this obstacle course video. He goes through on his hands!

Turns out that an obstacle course can be great fun for adults too. Obstacles courses are far from just child’s play, even if they can sometimes seem a bit childish for an adult. And while sometimes amusing to watch, military courses, like those shown in Army training videos, are no laughing matter. You have to be quite fit to get through them.

I’ve gone to a fitness training camp, though it’s better described as a fitness boot camp. That was a lot of work, but I ended up in the best shape of my life. Along with running every morning and daily hour-long weight lifting sessions, there were my beloved obstacle courses! That camp had more creative obstacle courses than I had ever seen before. They sort of combined the best of American gladiators and the childhood playground into one seamless whole for adults. There was swimming, climbing, coordination tests, high ropes – you name it and it was there. There was something to challenge everyone.

Since then, I’ve spent the spring, summer, and early fall months at an outdoor obstacle course near one of the public parks. It’s a blast, and it brings back so many memories of the fun we use to have as a kid when we set up our own obstacle courses. It’s a great outing - I even bring my dog (but he just sits on leash and watches). And it’s a great way to get and stay in shape.

Talk about being in shape though… the kid doing handstands in the obstacle course video above is in really good condition!

Manny Ramirez Catch With High Five in Amazing Video

Manny Ramirez makes the catch in the left field line, high fives a fan, and throws in for the play!

I love baseball to begin with but amazing moment plays like this make it all the sweeter (especially for my beloved Red Sox!). The Boston Red Sox the other night playing the Orioles in Baltimore had yet another reason to celebrate their dreadlocked left-fielder Manny Ramirez. It’s the fourth inning with two men on and one out. Former teammate of Ramirez Kevin Millar slams the ball to left center. It looks like it’s going to go long but Manny sprints and stretches his arm and in an unbelievable move, catches the ball at the warning track! He goes on for a couple of more strides to the seven-foot wall, literally runs up that wall, high-fives a fan in the stands (who ironically was wearing a Boston Red Sox shirt… remember, this took place in Baltimore), turns back, runs toward the field, and throws the ball in, resulting in a double play to end the inning! Sadly, the Orioles took the game 6-3, but man, what a treat just the same!

Absolutely amazing… check out the video clip here!

After that amazing Manny Ramirez catch, back in the dug out his teammates heartily high five him as well!
