The smart dog in this funny video clip figures out a way to get a ball from a swimming pool without going in the water.

Most dogs seem to love water (all the dogs I’ve ever have sure do!). And many dogs love chasing and retrieving things (toys, shoes, balls, etc.). So, you’d think that if you toss a ball in a swimming pool (in-ground or deck-level), an energetic playful dog would simply run to the pool, jump in the water, and go swimming for the ball.

But not the dog in this video!

Watch as he carefully and quickly creates a plan to use all the available resources to get to the ball in the pool without actually having to go in the water. Can you blame him though for not wanting to go in? Look at the water - murky and pond-like! It’s bad even for a dog! This pool owner is in dire need of some good swimming pool supplies to get that pool back in tip-top shape!

Horray! For the first time ever, a beagle has won Best in Show at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show! It’s about time! Uno the Beagle did it! Now, my favorite breed is the border collie, but having fostered a beagle for about three years, I must say beagles rock!

Check out Uno the beagle has he takes his Best In Show 2008 prize like the champ he is:

True his name, Uno came in Number 1, taking the top dog spot over two poodles, a Sealyham terrier, a Weimaraner, an Australian shepherd, and an Akita. Wow! This was the 132nd Westminster dog show which boasted fierce competition among 169 different breeds and varieties and 2,627 entries. So, no small feat that Uno the beagle accomplished what he did.

Congratulations Uno!

Now, if he can only go off and have some fun, like all dogs featured in this funny dog video! Somehow, I think not! Uno’s a bit more refined than the fun-loving, crazy, and wacky canines shown here! I don’t think Uno will ever be caught in a video like this… then again….

I love border collies! I love the way they look, I’m in awe of their high intelligence, and I honor their strong ability to work. Heck, I love ‘em so much I have one (a smooth coat, tri-color). Many border collies are simply amazing when it comes to herding sheep. And some even get to have a monkey on their back when they’re working sheep. Yes, that’s right, you read that correctly! Check out this video of Whiplash the monkey riding rodeo-style on the dog in this video. See? Border collies have numerous admiral traits and talents!
