Right now, I’m in some pain…

Today I visited the dentist. Not just any dentist mind you, and not my regular dentist whom I see twice a year.

No, this guy was a periodontist and this morning I was with him and his dental assitant for almost three hours for gum grafting surgery on three teeth to treat the receding gums on those teeth.

Whoooopeeee! That was fun!

What they do is scrape and/or pull tissue from the palate (the top of the inside of the mouth) and use that to build up the gum that’s receding by stitching it to the existing gum.

My entire mouth was numb from novacaine and now that it has worn off, I’m in a bit of discomfort, to say the least. This next week of recovery will be the hardest, but then there’s another two weeks to fully heal. Oh boy. Soft diet and rinsing and applying ice to my face. What a joy ride!

But, it needed to be done to preserve the teeth. If you need this type of treatment, don’t delay or you risk losing the affected teeth. For me, I’m a young guy still - I want to keep my teeth for as long as possible!

To celebrate this surgical procedure I endured today, I found this great hilarious video featuring the legendary Tim Conway and Harvey Korman (Carol Burnett Show… remember?).

His name is David Garrett. He’s known as the “David Beckham of classical violin”. He’s 26 years old, a former child musical prodigy, and sports immense good looks and an equal amount of musical talent. He’s got style, grace, and a million dollar Guadagnini violin (NOT a Stradivarius as some early reports erroneously stated) from the year 1772.

Ooops - CORRECTION! He had a million dollar Guadagnini violin, and he had grace, until December 27, 2007 when, after a London performance, he tripped while carrying the instrument (in its case) on his back. Not too graceful…

See, what happened was, he fell down a flight of concrete stairs, backward, landing on the violin case… landing on his prized million dollar violin. The thing was crushed, smashed to bits.

Look David - there’s a right way to fall down the stairs while carrying a rare million dollar violin on your back, and a wrong way. You clearly did it the wrong way. The correct way would have been to go down on your belly, sliding all the way to the bottom. This way, your back is facing up. The violin then rides on you like a kid on a snow sled racing down a hill. Sure, you might get pretty beat up in the process, but your violin would have been safe.

On this Valentine’s Day, will the two of you go at it like a couple of sex-crazed teenagers, or will you warm each other up with a little foreplay first?

It was like the shot heard round the world. What did Jane Fonda say, and where did she say it? Oh, it was just Jane Fonda’s unabashed use of the C-word on NBC’s Today Show this morning! It sent the show’s staff, the network, and the country reeling into a tizzy of disbelief. It’s morning television’s version of “shock and awe”!

To many, it was offensive; to others, it was funny! What’s more funny is that Fonda didn’t even apologize for her use of the vulgar slang word; she uttered it matter-of-factly and had literally no reaction to her own “slip”, if you can call it that, i.e. perhaps it was deliberate.

In case you’re in the dark, the “C-word” is the vulgar rendition of the word for a certain female body part “down below”. You know, it’s four letters, begins with a ‘c’, and ends with a ‘t’. Some folks refer to it as an acronym for “see you next Tuesday”, i.e. “c” “u” “next Tuesday”.

The rule is: You can’t say it on TV!

But come now… what’s all the fuss, really? It’s Valentine’s Day, and millions of couples will be at it making love all day and night, right? It’s striking that Jane Fonda used a word for a part of the woman’s body that will be in full swing today!

She was discussing her role in the play “The Vagina Monologues”. See, vagina is okay to say. Some people have a lot fun with that word, as shown in this video: The Vagina Game. Watch the video to learn how to play - it’s pretty funny!

After you watch, you’ll understand that maybe that’s how “The Vagina Monologues” got it’s name; maybe it was originally called, I don’t know, something like “The Boring Monologues”. But then, playwright Eve Ensler played “The Vagina Game” on it, and the new name she came up with stuck!

Horray! For the first time ever, a beagle has won Best in Show at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show! It’s about time! Uno the Beagle did it! Now, my favorite breed is the border collie, but having fostered a beagle for about three years, I must say beagles rock!

Check out Uno the beagle has he takes his Best In Show 2008 prize like the champ he is:

True his name, Uno came in Number 1, taking the top dog spot over two poodles, a Sealyham terrier, a Weimaraner, an Australian shepherd, and an Akita. Wow! This was the 132nd Westminster dog show which boasted fierce competition among 169 different breeds and varieties and 2,627 entries. So, no small feat that Uno the beagle accomplished what he did.

Congratulations Uno!

Now, if he can only go off and have some fun, like all dogs featured in this funny dog video! Somehow, I think not! Uno’s a bit more refined than the fun-loving, crazy, and wacky canines shown here! I don’t think Uno will ever be caught in a video like this… then again….

It’s a milestone few will ever reach: 1 million miles on their car! A million miles! Think about that for a second! Holey moley!

Seem impossible? Well it was just reported that last Friday a guy in Wisconsin hit the 1 million-mile mark on his 1991 Chevy Silverado pickup truck. How’d he keep the truck going for so long? He claims his secret was regular maintenance, specifically oil changes! He said he’s had the oil changed on his truck more than 300 times since he bought it in 1996 (when it had 41,000 miles)!

I wonder: Did he do the oil changes himself, or did he bring the truck to the quick lube garage, the place that has the huge hole in the floor? With that many oil changes, I’m guessing he could drive into the quickie lube garage blindfolded and still be able to avoid the gaping hole!

Unfortunately, the same can’t be said of the driver shown in this hilarious video…. Is she blind? Is she driving with his eye closed? Blurred vision? Is she drunk? Or is she just dumb?

Put down your breakfast burrito, pack away your tuna sandwich, cuz this ain’t pretty, but it’s pretty friggin funny! A television news reporter is in the field reporting on the infestation of the Canadian brown finches. Of course, stupid is as stupid does as the guy puts himself squarely at “ground zero” of the Canadian brown finch overpopulation zone. The birds - not seen in this footage - clearly have a problem with this dope treading on their turf, and they let him know it. First, there’s the dump on his shoulder. Grossed out, the guy looks up, mouth open, and then… well, just watch and see for yourself. Again - put away your breakfast or lunch… okay? You’ve been warned!
